If brands were people, guess who most young people would hang with?
As it turns out, most young people would want to befriend Google, the smartest kid on the block.
They say if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. According to McCann Worldgroup’s study The Truth About Youth, being truthful is the most important quality young people look for in a friend. In a world of reality-based entertainment, Facebook, blogging and generally broadcasting life for all to see, it’s no surprise that youth have a hunger for the truth. So, when asked which brand they would most like to ‘hang’ with, the answer across the globe is good ol’ Google, the ultimate portal for general knowledge, problem-solving, know-how, and the cold hard facts! So when it comes to being a trusted brand, it’s important not to pretend to be something they’re not. According to the study, 90% of youth will tell their friends about their gripes with a brand. “It’s not surprising that Google is perceived this way as transparency and accessibility are the basis of their entire model.” says Annie-Duong Huynh, resident Interactive Analyst. So in order to avoid scathing reviews or have your company’s social activity skeptically analyzed for evidence of ulterior motives, keep it real!
