Game over! Till next year.

Marketel’s Air Canada promo team made their last two stops on their nationwide hockey activation tour, wrapping it up until next season!

With the regular hockey season coming to a close, it’s time for some players to get pumped up for the playoffs, and for others, it’s time to blow the dust off their golf clubs. The season has also come to an end for Marketel’s Air Canada hockey promo team, who, over the past few months, have toured the country hosting hockey activation nights for fans.

The last two stops on the nationwide tour took place in Edmonton and Ottawa, where fans got to visit the Air Canada activation booth and take green screen photos to appear in a behind-the-scenes snapshot with some of their favourite players, as well as grab a personalized Air Canada luggage tag.

For these last two nights, Marketel decided to switch up the TV timeout games a little. The games, as part of the overall activation, promote the fact that Air Canada flies our Canadian hockey teams to their away games. Rather than having a host direct the contest, the new format got the fans actively involved. In Edmonton, the fans yelled and cheered to help guide the contestant to the winning answer of the game question, which asked where the Oilers’ last road game was played. In Ottawa, a winner was picked at random, with a different part of their seat number being revealed in each period until the third period, where the winner’s seat number was called out in its entirety. A very surprised and excited fan was handed a free Air Canada ticket to the North American destination of his choice, and it was all aired on the big screen!

Overall, the fan-fuelled hockey activation nights were a huge success, drawing in masses of keen fans in each hockey-loving city. Free tickets were handed out, free flights were won, and contagious enthusiasm ran throughout. Marketel will be brewing up a whole new concept for the Air Canada-sponsored nights next season, so stay tuned for news on how you can get in on the action!
